Produced using multiple layers of colour, the compositions showcase the precision and intensity of the screen-printing process. Haring began exploring screen printing more extensively in the early 1980s, embracing the medium’s ability to produce multiple impressions while retaining the energy and immediacy of his original drawings.

His interest in printmaking soon developed into an important part of his practice, leading to collaborations with publishers across the United States, Europe and Asia. Pop Shop prints were released in different formats and editions, including individual compositions and portfolio sets, contributing to the extraordinary proliferation of Haring’s imagery.
