Plate II, Untitled 1–6 – Keith Haring Poster 100x150 cm / 40x60″

Plate II, Untitled 1–6 brings together several of Keith Haring’s most recognisable motifs, including the barking dog, a symbol that originated in his Subway Drawings of the early 1980s. One of Haring’s earliest recurring street figures, the barking dog is often associated with power, authority and the tension between human control and animal instinct. Here, the repeated figures are intensified by Haring’s characteristic dots and radiating energy lines, creating a sense of movement, tension and unease.

The television screen introduces another important element of Haring’s visual vocabulary. Living during a period of rapid technological and media expansion, Haring frequently used television imagery to question the influence of mass communication and the growing power of technology over everyday life. In this work, the screen can be read as a symbol of manipulation, mass culture and the increasingly pervasive nature of media.

Through his bold graphic lines, recurring symbols and energetic composition, Haring transforms familiar imagery into a powerful commentary on society and contemporary culture. Plate II, Untitled 1–6 demonstrates the artist’s ability to combine Pop Art, social commentary and expressive symbolism within an immediately recognisable visual language.
